Dementia Club UK at Mill Hill, run by Rotary Club Mill Hill session leaders Jane and Jeanette, celebrated the Platinum Jubilee today with Crown making, Music, Memories, Friendship and eating cake !!!
Bunting around the entrance to the hall greeted our members, they were then involved in decorating crowns which would be worn during our sing song. Pictures of the Jubilee celebrations in London were passed around and lots of photos were taken of our members standing by life sized cut-outs of Her Majesty the Queen and Queen’s Guard which were brought to the session by Lisa and Mark.
Helen our music entertainer had prepared and printed out words of popular songs from over the last 7 decades. The singing started off with the National Anthem followed by many favourite songs including the Lambeth Walk and Sweet Caroline. There was much flag waving and dancing. The music ended with a final rendition of the National Anthem which was sung with great gusto.
Members then enjoyed another cup of tea and were nicely surprised to see beautiful Platinum Jubilee cupcakes made by Jane. Everyone really enjoyed the delicious beautifully made cupcakes and shared memories of previous celebrations.
Members then left having enjoyed the afternoon taking their crowns with them. Thank you to all our Rotary Club Mill Hill volunteers, Desmond, Graham, Bobsie and Ken. It was also lovely to see Theresa who sometimes comes to the session and volunteers and of course thank you to Lisa and Mark.
