Dementia Awareness Day 2018 – Brent Cross

Lisa – the Ageing Well & Mental Health Champion of the Borough of Barnet organised a Dementia Awareness Day at Brent Cross Shopping Centre today. The last few years this was organised in the centre but this year Lisa decided to stand in the balcony area which looks down in the centre.

I would like to thank Brent Cross and 5 of their volunteers from the security team for helping with the bucket collections. They helped for 4 hours. I also like to thank the following; Risom who helped out for 5 hours continuously, Dr Angela one of our Trustees, Danielle from Rotary Club Edgware & Stanmore and of course my husband Mark who is also one of the Trustees. It was a pleasure to see Gordon Banks from Saracens who came to show his support. We wish the Saracens all the best tomorrow at their game in Twickenham.

We had quite a few people approach us to ask questions about someone they know with dementia. Over the years it is evident that we have been successful in raising awareness about dementia which is good. I am grateful to Brent Cross for their continued support.
