Our ‘Forget Me Not’ session today was run by Dementia Club and Barnet Walking Football Team at Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre. The session kicked off at 1:00pm in the spacious sports hall with Shaun leading our members through a set of stretches followed on by a fun egg and spoon race which Lisa’s Rutter our Chairman kindly brought. Members were concentrating and trying very hard not to let the plastic balls fall off the large red plastic spoons.

A circuit of activities was set up and with the help of all our Walking football volunteers and Keren our members were able to freely move around at their leisure. Family members were very happy to see their loved ones enjoying playing football for the first time or rekindling a passion for golf at our indoor golf station. It was clear to see that it is never too late to play sport no matter how old you are!.

For the second half of the session we were based in the cafe. It was great to have Lisa Rutter our Chairman on hand to support the session today, our members love chatting with you. We were treated to delicious cakes whilst Faz ran a game of Pingo. Similar to bingo, numbered ping pong balls were scooped out of a hat. Members crossed out their numbers and the game ended with everyone winning at the same time and calling out Pingo. A fun and interactive game where everyone was a winner.

Higher or lower? It could go either way as Faz, with the help of our friendly footballers introduced her version of Bruce Forsyth’s Play Your Cards Right. Our members had so much fun calling out their answers and waiting in anticipation as each card was revealed.
Huge thanks to Lisa Rutter, Shaun and his team, Keren and all the staff at the Angel Cafe for supporting today’s session. Our next session is on Tuesday 27th February.
