Faz led today’s session, following on from the theme of New Year and the month of January, word searches and colouring were laid out on the tables and then Faz ran a quiz themed around the month of January. Did you know that the country Rio De Janeiro translates to ‘The River of January?’. Whilst our members were kept busy, Lisa and Keren were doing a fantastic job of ensuring everyone’s cups were flowing with teas and coffees, this was very much appreciated, our warmest thanks to you both.

Happy New Year!, it was great to welcome everyone back to our first session at Barnet Copthall of 2023. Today was a very relaxed and cosy session with 20 members and carers who were fortunate enough to sample delicious home made pumpkin pastries and cheese bourekia made by our very own chairman Lisa Rutter, what a treat thank you. Look out for the recipes in the near future at dementiaclubuk.org.uk under the blog section of the website.

Rachel joined us next and really engaged everyone in today’s seated exercise session. It was fun swaying our arms like an elephant’s trunk and moving our bodies to a mix of music, thank you very much Rachel.

For the final part of today’s session we were treated to a super sing along with Helen. Firm favourites were sung including ‘Que Sera Sera’ and ‘Singing in the Rain’ very apt given the weather today. It was wonderful to sing and clap our hands to beautifully sung melodies, thank you Helen.

Huge thanks to Mark for chatting with our members and supporting today’s session. Lisa our Chairman and Keren our volunteer, thank you so much for all your help with the drinks and ensuring that the session ran smoothly.
