Dementia Club UK at Barnet Copthall was a very busy session today celebrating International Women’s Day. Everyone enjoyed an International Women’s Day themed colouring activity and word search whilst enjoying their teas/coffees and delicious cakes and biscuits. The session was run by Faz today and we also had a visitor Seher Kayikci – Barnet Council’s Public Health Strategist.
To mark the day, Lisa the Chairman of Dementia Club UK kindly gave all the women a beautiful tulip. Stephen one of the carers sang a poem from Robert Burns called ‘A Red, Red Rose’ which everyone enjoyed listening to.
It was then time for some exercises with Rachel which got everyone moving and having fun.
There were two birthdays to celebrate too and just before the music entertainment was going to start Lisa surprised members with a cake to wish Leyla and Chloe a very happy birthday. Dementia Club UK have a special way of celebrating birthdays as Lisa always puts a firework candle on the cake first which everyone loves to see. Everyone sang Happy Birthday.
Last but not least, Ian our music entertainer put smiles on everyone’s faces by singing a few favourite songs. Members enjoyed dancing along to the music. It was a very successful session. Special thanks to Faz and also the carers for volunteering to help with the teas and coffees. Finally, thanks to Mark and Lisa for a great session and thanks to Barnet Copthall for setting up the tables and preparing the refreshments for the session.
