Mill Hill East Church – 28th August 2025

Today’s session at Mill Hill East Church was run by Faz and our Chairman Lisa Rutter. We had great support from the Mark, Georgina, Angela and Steven who are part of the church community.

Alongside our usual colouring and word searches Faz set a picture quiz based on famous scientists and their inventions. Our members were asked to match the scientist to the famous invention. We also found out that the famous scientist Alexander Fleming who invented penicillin did this by accident when he left mould growing on a Petri dish by accident whilst on holiday . Well done to our 4 winners today who jointly all scored 10/12.

From science to probability, next we introduced our MHE members to a well loved game played called ‘Higher or Lower’. With help from our amazing volunteers and Lisa our members guessed whether each playing card would be higher or lower than the previously held one. This game is a great way to encourage the whole group to come together and call out aloud their answers.

Rachel joined us next with her beautifully coloured scarves. Our members love to sway the vibrant coloured scarves left to right and back and fourth in circular patterns whilst getting a good work out at the same time.

James Le Bec was on top form as usual singing a variety of well known songs for us to sing along to whilst we enjoyed delicious cakes and refreshments. As the afternoon progressed our members began to dance away together and enjoy the harmonious atmosphere that music creates.

It was especially heartwarming to see our Ansell Court members becoming more confident and involved in the session today. A result of the great relationship between MHE Church and DCUK, two communities coming together as one.

With that in mind, Faz gave thanks to all the members involved in making today another successful session.
